Revalations

Wow! It's been a while! I know that some of you have been worried about me-- but everything is going great. We have had a wonderful summer and can't believe how quickly this pregnancy is going by. While I am definitely looking forward to meeting our sweet baby girl, it makes me a little sad to think that this could be our last pregnancy. (Jason and I have a deal that we will take it one baby at a time-- at one point we definitely thought Jacob would be our only one! LOL)

Here are some revelations that I have discovered throughout the past few weeks...

#1. Being a "Stay-At-Home Mom" (SAHM for you acronym people) does not mean you sit at home eating bon-bons and watching soaps. I find Soaps a little annoying (sorry, Granny!) and I don't know if I've ever actually eaten a bon-bon-- although if it is chocolate I'm sure I'd love them now! I worried when I resigned last year that I would be bored at home day-after-day, but I've found that the week just flies by and I still am unable to get everything done. How on earth did I do it when I was working full time?!? Jacob is in Gymboree Class (a mommy-and-me tumbling class...Don't worry, I haven't tumbled, yet!) and we go to storytime at the library once a week. This month, we're thinking of adding a music class too. Add a shopping day and a cleaning day, and that's our week. I absolutely love it! It is so comforting to know that Jacob is not missing me all day, and I am not missing any of the incredible things that he is doing and learning.

#2. Cartoons are my best-worst enemy. Being 7 months pregnant, there are times when Khloe demands that I stop and put my feet up. This doesn't always jive with our first borns demands to go-go-go. So, I have discovered that with DVR we have a multitude of Dora and Diego cartoons available for his viewing pleasure. I always swore to myself that I would not use cartoons as a break for myself...but like my attempts to keep him on an all-natural, all-organic diet-- desperate times call for desperate measures. I can now sing all of the Dora tunes right along with him. Help!

#3. I will return to teaching, someday. As much as I love being at home, it does feel as if a part of me is missing. I absolutely love teaching, and I do miss it. I am so thankful that I decided to begin this adventure of staying home while pregnant because it has given me a big distraction from what I am usually doing this time of year. I'm not sure when I will return, and it may just be part time at a private school or preschool, but someday I definitely see myself back in the classroom. Until that time, my creative energy is going for my kids. Jacob now counts to "thirty-ten" (instead of forty!) and Khloe has a room full of "projects" that I've been working on.

More Baby Stuff

Here are some of my favorite things for our new baby girl...A sweet picture frame that I found for her ultrasound photo... It says "Love at First Sight"

Some of my "mommy" friends have been telling me about these nursing covers affectionately called "Hooter Hiders". I thought they were so cute, however they are almost $40! So, I embarked on my first sewing adventure and sewed one. It came out pretty good, after LOTS of patience with the sewing machine!

Hopefully, more to come soon! I think I'm already missing all of my crafty projects that I used to do during the summer to prepare for school. Now I am all about projects for Jacob and baby #2.

I love girly things!

When I was pregnant with Jacob, I often complained about how little there is out there for baby boys. It took us forever to pick out his take-home outfit because everything was either too fru-fru for Jason or too casual for me. (as a side-note, the outfit we finally did choose was too big for him and he ended up coming home in a sleeper! haha!) Well, since we found out that we are having a girl, a whole new world has opened up! There are so many cute things for baby girls and I am having so much fun finding them. I had a hard time finding a bedding set that I liked, though, so I am going to attempt to sew my own. Here are some pictures of the fabric I have purchased.

I have a little bit of sewing experience, but I am very hard on myself. So, if it doesn't turn out right, I'll probably throw it out and go buy something! That's just me-- sometimes my visions surpass my abilities. Haha!

My Shadow

I have so enjoyed being at home this summer! It is hard to imagine that I would be gearing up for another school year already if I was returning to teaching next year. I know that it is not going to be easy in this economy with Jason being self-employeed. But, time goes by so fast and I will never regret getting to spend so much time with Jacob, especially before baby #2 comes!

He has suddenly become such a copy-cat of everything that Jason and I do. He loves to "pretend" now and we enjoy role-playing with him. His latest game is dressing up in all of my jewelry, sunglasses, etc... Jason absolutely loves this! LOL! But, I say all is fair when my life revolves around basketball, baseball, golf, and tennis! Seriously, though, I absolutely love having a son. There is nothing that compares to the way he looks at me! I am so excited about having a baby girl, but I wouldn't trade my Jacob for anything!

Update...and Freedom!

I went to the doctor again yesterday and they have released me from bedrest as long as I take it easy. Anyone with a toddler probably finds this as humorous as I do, because Jacob's only idea of "taking it easy" is those glorious hours between sundown and sun-up. Now that it is summer, his bedtime seems to have been pushed back to about 9pm and he is waking up around 7am! He is being such a big helper though. It is amazing to me how much he can do on his own now, compared to 6 months ago. If only we could get rid of diapers! Anyway, we were thankful that everything looks great. I have another appointment in two weeks just to make sure. Thanks for all of the thoughts, prayers, phone calls, and emails!

Ugh! Bedrest!

Well, after a small pregnancy scare this week (again!) everything appears to be fine. I went to the doctor yesterday for a level 2 ultrasound and to get everything checked out. Yet again, they tell me that they have no idea why I have these "issues" going on. However, I got to see all of our baby girl's organs and hear the heartbeat. The doctor, midwife, and ultrasound tech that I saw all asured me that everything looks great. However, just to be cautious, they have me on bedrest until Monday morning when I go in for another appointment. At first, I was thinking this sounded great! Jason rearranged his schedule so that he could be home to watch Jacob (a day with no diapers! Yipee) and wait on me hand and foot. (He is a wonderful husband). I had Mexican take-out last night and breakfast "in bed" this morning. But, now after 24 hours of this, I am crawling at the walls. This life is definitely not for me and I am SO hoping that I will be released of my confinement on Monday. The rest has helped though, and my "symptoms" seem to be gone. Thanks for keeping me in your prayers! This little girl seems to be shaping up for a big entrance into the world. I think this is a sign that she will not be "overshadowed" by our exuberent first born, as we once thought. Haha!

Jacob's First Braves Game

Today we took Jacob to his first game at Turner Field. We were all excited because it was the Braves Vs. the Red Sox and Jacob's first game. Being the brave parents that we are, we took him to the 1:35pm game-- right during nap time! Anyone with a two year old knows not to break this cardinal rule. We arrived around noon and found our seats. It was 97 degrees at the field today, but we sat in the Golden Moon Casino Pavilion where it was shady and breezy. Earlier in the week we sat by the field for the Yankees game and I nearly melted! Jacob was so excited to see the field up-close. We watched the ground crew prep the field for the game... Jacob thought these were the baseball players and couldn't figure out where their bats were! :) When the game started he went wild. He kept copying Jason, yelling out whatever Jason yelled. I'm pretty sure he was the only two year old yelling "Come on, Tommy!" to the pitcher and "Base Hit, B-Mac". It was cute! Jason took this fabulous picture of me... you can kind of see the beginnings of my baby belly.

Around the fifth inning, the fun was ending though! He was so tired and got a little cranky. So, me being the mom of the year, decided to take him to the concession area to find some ice cream. When we got up there, he broke free from me and took off running. So, here I was five months pregnant, belly flopping, chasing after him with bystanders amused. Finally an usher stopeed him so that I could catch up. I was not a happy momma! Needless to say, we left before the first pitch was thrown in the sixth inning!

Monster Mini-Golf

Yesterday, we went to eat dinner with friends, Brittany and Cole. We hadn't seen them in a while and were SO excited to see them. Brittany is expecting her first baby and is about 8 weeks ahead of me. However, belly-wise, we were very close!!! My belly is getting so big, so fast, with this baby compared to my pregnancy with Jacob. Thankfully, I haven't gained as many pounds as last time, but I am definately poking out there!

After dinner it was raining, so we had to change our plans from going to Mountasia to play putt-putt golf, to going to an indoor putt-putt course called "Monster Golf". We weren't sure what to expect, but it was cute. Jacob had a blast. He didn't quite understand that you aren't supposed to pick up your ball to move it closer to the hole! But, at an average of 8 strokes per hole, none of us minded! He may be the next Tiger Woods.

Or if golf doesn't work out, there's always basketball! This child is definitely Jason's son! :)

It's a... GIRL!

On Saturday, we went to Baby's First Images in Alpharetta to find out the sex of our new bundle of joy. Jacob was convinced that Mommy was having both a boy and a girl. Jason and I were both thinking that it had to be another boy. (Jason was REALLY hoping for a girl though!) When we arrived, we went straight back to the ultrasound room. We got to see some great images of our new baby...except that she was being very shy! Finally the ultrasound tech was able to get a good look and was convinced that we are having a girl. We are so overjoyed to add this little lady to our family. She waved at us during the 3d ultrasound and we saw her sucking her thumb. She is very active already!
